Chiropractic Adjustment Techniques:

At Nirvana Wellness, we do not believe in a “cookie-cutter” solution to your health. Each spine is unique and requires individualized care. Hence we perform different forms of chiropractic adjustments depending on the patient’s specific needs and preferences. We often hear that while some patients love the hands-on manual adjustments, others may not prefer it or be more suited for an instrument-based adjustment technique. Hence we perform both. The chiropractic adjustment is the most important part of your chiropractic care and should only be performed by a trained practitioner. The adjustment is a very specialized movement with the goal of recreating proper movements in the joints of the vertebrae and removing any nerve compression. Spinal vertebrate that are misaligned or do not move properly can irritate or put pressure onto the nerves of your spine. This can not only cause pain and discomfort, but also affect whatever part of the body that particular nerve controls. Refer to chart below. Regardless of the technique used, the common purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is to restore proper motion and mechanics to your joints as well as improve your body’s ability to function and heal.

list of techniques that we conduct at our Clinic:

Diversified Manual Manipulation

One of the most frequent treatments that a chiropractor performs is manual manipulation (commonly known as an adjustment) of the vertebrae of your spine or other joints, such as those in your wrist, ankle or foot. To perform an adjustment, your chiropractor will use their hands to apply a quick, gentle thrust to the spine or other parts of the body intended to provide pain relief and mobility. This action restores your joint’s natural movement, improves its function and decreases any nerve interference.

Neuromechanical Impulse Technique

At Nirvana Wellness Centre, we also use the advanced science and technology of the Neuromechanical Impulse Adjusting Technique. Dr. Bakshi is one of the few Chiropractors in the GTA that is certified in Neuromechanical Impulse Adjusting technique.

Neuromechannical Impulse technique is an instrument-based adjustment that is extensively researched and shown to be effective chiropractic technique. This FDA registered device is specifically created to deliver gentle and precise chiropractic adjustments to the joints of the spine and extremities to relieve pain, restore function and most importantly, alleviate nerve inference to optimize nervous system functioning. By being able to control the force and intensity of the adjustment with great precision, we effectively treat a wide demographic from athletes to seniors, children to adults alongside prenatal and postnatal care.

Flexion-Distraction

With the use of a flexion-distraction table and Cox technique performed by the Chiropractor, the spine is decompressed (traction) in order to increase joint space and decrease the pressure placed on the nerve. This technique is based on principals of osteopathy and chiropractic that allows for fast and effective relief of low back and leg pain associated with disc herniations and radiculopathy. Since this technique is gentle and non-force, it is safe to use with patients recovering from spinal surgery and undergoing rehabilitation.
